Lumenis M22 IPL technology uses light from specific ranges of the light spectrum. Specialised filters can be selected to target pigmentation (melanin), redness, rosacea and broken capillaries (haemoglobin).

Over time, and with exposure to environmental conditions such as sunlight - especially the harsh New Zealand sun - changes occur in the texture of the skin resulting in fine lines and uneven skin tone often with discolourations, brown spots and broken capillaries.

We chose the German-made Dermastamp™ for our collagen induction therapy. This is a motor driven system, electronically controlled and engineered to provide a consistent and effective treatment.

Collagen induction is a non-surgical skin regeneration procedure that can significantly improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, aged skin, acne scarring, enlarged pores and stretch marks. This technology works by using fine needles to create micro-channels in the skin to promote stimulation of the natural healing processes and regenerate the skin. 

The needle length is adjustable and can be changed easily throughout the procedure to customise the treatment depth for maximum benefit.

The procedure is comfortable as a topical numbing cream is applied prior to treating. Hyaluronic acid is infused into the skin throughout the treatment followed by an intensive hyaluronic and peptide moisture mask for further hydration.

Hydrabrasion gives the skin a resurfacing exfoliation and the deepest clean.

It is effective in refining open pores, clearing congestion and reducing oil and breakouts. It also helps with superficial pigmentation and generally improves and brightens skin texture.

It is a two-stage process. The first stage is a dry diamond tip exfoliation combined with a gentle vacuum that clears debris from the pores and reduces the dead skin layer. The second stage is a further exfoliation with a diamond tip combined with distilled water to flush out and deep clean every pore.

We use the Lumenis M22 IPL machine to treat acne. It has a dedicated acne filter which uses light from two different wavelengths. The lower wavelength light kills the bacteria on the skin and the higher wavelength penetrates to the sebaceous glands to help destroy the bacteria's environment.

Acne results from over-productive sebaceous glands. The accumulated sebum leads to the multiplication of bacterium P.acnes which is the actual cause of the acne. The colonies of bacteria on the skin produce porphyrin - if light of a specific wavelength is directed on to the skin it is absorbed by the porphyrin causing oxygen to be released which destroys the bacteria.
